Minneriya
Minneriya National Park, located in the north-central region of Sri Lanka, is renowned for its historic reservoir built in the 3rd century by King Mahasen. This 8,890-hectare park provides a refuge for a diverse range of wildlife, including herds of elephants that gather around the reservoir during the dry season, a phenomenon known as the 'Great Elephant Gathering.' Minneriya is also home to deer, leopards, and many bird species. The park attracts numerous visitors each year, captivated by its rich biodiversity and historical significance.
