Kandy

Kandy, located in the heart of Sri Lanka, is a city of great historical and spiritual significance. Formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Kandy, it resisted European colonization until the early 19th century. The city is renowned for the Temple of the Tooth, which houses a sacred relic of Buddha's tooth, making Kandy a major Buddhist pilgrimage site. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Kandy is also famous for its annual Esala Perahera festival, a grand religious procession. Today, it attracts many visitors for its rich cultural heritage and picturesque setting surrounded by lush green hills.
